History:
This station dates back to an original construction permit for a new station issued to Florence Broadcasting Company, for a 250 watt daytime only outlet on 1010 kHz.  It signed on in March of 1956 with studios and transmitter on what was then called Cravens Landing Road.  Today, it's surrounded by the Woodland Heights subdivision.

The station was bought by Savannah Broadcasting Service in July of 1957.

The format of the station prior to the 80's isn't known, but it was country from at least '82 onwards, and simulcast for most of the day on sister WORM-FM.

Gerald W. Hunt bought the station in 1984.  The station transitioned to a gold-based oldies format in the early 90's, while the FM took the country music.
