History:
This station dates back to an original construction permit first issued to Lamar County Broadcasting, Inc. (who put on Vernon's WVSA in the mid-60's), for a 3 kW Class A station with a transmitter site east of Vernon on AL-18.  The calls from the beginning were WJEC.  The facility went through several permit modifications, then the permit expired in the early 90's.  It was reinstated in 1994, and later that summer it signed on with 6 kW from the same site it uses today, east of Sulligent.  The format at sign on was Adult Contemporary.  By 1998, it had flipped to Southern Gospel, while also carrying local high school sports programming (along with WVSA).

The format flipped for only the second time in the station's life in April 2017, when it picked up a Classic Country format as "The Ride".  It's likely at this time the southern gospel went to the AM sister station WVSA.
