History:
This station is a rimshot into the Huntsville market, mostly covering the Athens area and points north of I-565, and is also heard in the Shoals area via WLXA licensed to Loretto, Tennessee.  It first came on the air in 1981 and is noted for being the first radio station (and one of the first stations, period) to acquire its own color weather radar system.  For ages, this station simulcast with WWLX-AM, but that simulcast ended in 2008 when the AM relaunched as a classic hits station, feeding several translators around middle Tennessee. The station re-joined a simulcast with WWLX on Memorial Day 2016, also adding WLXA licensed to Loretto, Tennessee to the mix.
