FM History Profile: WZYP

History:

This station went on the air in the mid 70's as WJOE with an automated easy listening format. In the spring of 1983 ZYP hit the air and has been top 40 ever since. They've varied from "power hits" to "today's hits and yesterday's favorites" and are now touting "today's best music".

Some noted personalities of ZYP include Scott Reed, Steve "Coachroach" King, Chris Cook, Tom Grantt & Karen Foster, Robert "Rock and Roll" Johnson, Michael Morgan, Brett "Bam Bam" Michaels, Ace and TJ (mornings), Nikki Night, Michael Brooks, Cat Thomas and Dave Stone.

ZYP is owned by Bill Dunnavant, who also owns the following Teneessee Valley stations: WPZM (The Possum -- licensed to Tullahoma, TN but serves Huntsville), WVNN (News Talk 770) and WUMP (The Ump).
