History:
The original call letters back in the 50's were WLOX (biLOXi). It's best known as the origin of WLOX-TV 13, the area's only VHF television station. The format for most of the 60's and 70's was top 40. Around 1981 the TV station sold off the AM and it went to WBND (big BaND) with the nostalgia format. It still airs satellite fed nostalgia as WXBD. This class IV signal is probably the poorest one to be found anywhere; the tower is very short and the ground system is under a parking lot at the WLOX TV studios. (!) Prior to Hurricane Cammille, the transmitter was on a pier and the ground system was in the salt water.
