"[The format change]
coincides with the station being acquired along with WABF AM in Fairhope,
WCSN FM of Orange Beach an an AM/FM combo in Evergreen. Fairhope, Orange
Beach and Robertsdale will all be run out of the WCSN studio in Gulf Shores,
I'm told." -Alex
Station began in the
mid 80's as a country music outlet. In the past few years the format has
been southern gospel. As of June 1999, the station has moved to a satellite
fed "Music of Your Life" nostalgia format with the name "Uptown 1000".
("I can no more explain this handle than 'The Monkey' in Gulfport" - Alex)
The station didn't last long as Uptown 1000, it's now Dixie 1000, with
country oldies and new calls - WDXZ.
