History:

WBSR was an adult-learning network affiliate back in the 50's, when that all cahnged in favor of top 40. It became the market's leading rocker, until pushed aside by FM competition in the 70's. Poor ground conductivity in this area makes it difficult for any AM, much less a class IV frequency one, to be competitive. The station was bought by WMEZ FM when it fell on hard times and became it's stepchild. Since then, it has been automated though attempts at easy listening, oldies and now soft adult contemporary have been tried -- all with the same call letters.
